KIS 100 Club: Europe's Top 100 Knowledge Intensive Services Companies

Imooty.eu is proud to announce its membership of the European Knowledge-Intensive-Services-Innovation-Platform! News flash; our media intelligence tool was selected following our participation and presentation at the KIS Partnership Forum in Brussels last month.

The platform, a.k.a. KIS 100, brings together the most interesting and successful “knowledge” companies in Europe. It was established to promote exchange of ideas and to promote partnerships between cutting edge innovators, among others in the mobile news area.

The KIS 100 CLUB and Europe INNOVA are initiatives financed by the European Commission’s Directorate General for Enterprise and Industry.

Imooty.mobi has now launched. By creating an account, users may customize their news universe through the MyImooty section. Users can save favorite news feeds and most frequent searches for easy mobile browsing.

With quick and convenient access to a selection of topics, newspapers and blogs, users may review the latest news on any particular event, company, or person.

With this, we act to define the EU media landscape in a new way; a new definition of a common Europe and a new definition of media access. Imooty presents itself as THE platform for access to European news.

During the press conference Kristoffer held a presentation of Imooty’s European media monitoring vision whereas Blaise did a demonstration of the different functions and possibilities on offer. Pretty funny watching ourselves afterwards, you could definitely see it was our first press conference ;)

In the future we plan to offer premium press clipping services with publishers. Withholding a modest sales commission, Imooty will reimburse content providers for downloaded content.

The experience of arranging a press conference allowed us to go through the all the practical logistics; writing press releases, direct contact with journalists and finding interesting angles for the “event”. It’s a great opportunity to connect and communicate our vision and we expect to see more Imooty features in the next few weeks.

Also, the re-submission to Exist is finally done, if everything goes we’ll have funding from June on.

Blaise and I are financing the development of Imooty’s media monitoring tool with our own hard earned money. We both work full time on the project and do some other things on the side. We’re realistic about locating outside financing our goal is to have that in place within the next 12 months.

Its hard to ignore online advertising these days. Its becoming the bread and butter of traditional newspaper publishing. Every webpage is up for sale and Imooty is no exception. We’ll refer to booksellers, travel services and technology products. We’re also looking for special partnerships, in the mobile news space as well as markting of new products to early adopters (such as e-readers, iphone, LinkedIn etc.)

We also see potential revenue streams from referring access to ‘high value’ information sources. These are normally provided by “press clipping services” and provide access to archived articles, radio and TV programs. The problem is often that the information is located in separate databases. Subscription is costly, time consuming and reserved for professional service provider such as Lexis-Nexis, Thomson, Cision etc.).

We’d like to fix that. Its perhaps both naïve and overly ambitious, but these are new times and we’re entrepreneurs. Specifically, Imooty is in the business of democratizing use of presonalized news and press reviews. The idea is for Imooty to access archived articles and news content containing specific tags. This occurs in two steps; first by quickly accessing all relevant information according to indexation and algorithm procedures. Secondly, by letting the user access the complete content of the search result through Imooty’s proprietary database connection software.

Our goal is to create a central starting point for access to the European media landscape and market intelligence. Users create their own media monitoring report by using the MyImooty tool.

Favorite media sources and frequently used search terms are delivered in a customized press review. It will soon be available through Imooty’s mobile platform on Imooty.mobi. This content can later be re-accessed through the MyImooty library section.

For curios minds, Imooty makes it possible to view a panorama of continental, national and regional headlines. It is a general overview of what goes on in Europe and inspires visitors to find new perspectives and media intelligence.

There are surprising stories out there, waiting for you to discover. If you cant find a particular event on Imooty, it hasn’t happened yet!

Imooty has many benefits as a central access point for European news. For one we’d like to focus on quality sources. The problem with general search engines is that there’s a lot of irrelevant information. Search engine optimization is great for marketing of products and services, but not for deciding which media outlets feature in the top 10 search results.

As the European Union continues its development, more people migrate, communicate in different languages and follow news and current events from nearby countries. As Imooty founders, we are examples of this development. Blaise is French, and I’m Norwegian, both living and working in Berlin for some time and looking for a sensible way to create a personalized news overview.

Through personal experiences, we’ve found that new language, inspire new thought. We’re curious, optimistic, like surprises and are interested in what goes on in the world. We frequently access German, French, English and Scandinavian news sources and we’d like to develop a platform allowing for quick shifts between the media landscapes and insight into European market intelligence.

We’d also like Imooty to become a platform for a common European media landscape – there’s already economic and political unity and collaboration. It is time to develop similar structures for media content and press review services.

Blaise is in charge of the overall design, ergonomics and infrastructure of the platform. Kristoffer responsible for questioning those ideas and find potential value in the marketplace.

The idea of developig Imooty as a media monitor, dates back to the World Cup final of 2006 between France and Italy here in Berlin. As the final ended Italians popped the Prosecco while the French wondered what to do with the Champagne. Meanwhile, the talk was all about what Materazzi had said to provoke the head-butt of Zidane…

Zidane had “no comment” to the incident and journalists hired lip readers to find out what had been said. In Italy a version was that Materazzi simply had asked for Zidane’s shirt after the match. In France the version was that harsh words had fallen about Zidane’s sister and/or mother. In Norway someone joked that a joke had been made on Zidane’s hairdo (he’s bald). Interesting press review!

Hearing about these stories, we realized, depended on our international network here in Berlin. Looking up and learning of the different news perspectives, on a single European media platform was not possible. Why wasn’t there be a place where one could easily search and access this information? The idea of creating a democratized press clipping service was born.

Imooty has so far been well received – bloggers are exited to be part of the platform and prestigious publications such as the Economist, Le Monde Diplomatique and Tagesschau have commended our initiative.
