press-review-discussion-at-multimedia-conference1Imooty attended Berlin’s 4th conference multimedia start-up’s yesterday. We were pleased to present our mobile news application at the conference, which is a forum for multimedia and technology start-ups to network with prospective investors. It took place in the former DDR movie theater “Kosmos” in East Berlin.

This year’s motto was to collaborate and succeed in a time of economic crisis and Mr Kaczorowski, Director of Internet Business Solutions at Cisco Systems AG, held the keynote address. He told us how Cisco, one of the world’s largest networking equipment and network management suppliers didn’t had to cancel its annual leadership conference. Instead, new ‘live size’ video conference applications enabled them to organize a 3 day online conference for top level management world wide. Later, we were pleased to share Imooty’s collaborative mobile news features with the conference participants.

Another presentation by Dr. Martin Kupp, from European School of Management and Technology in Berlin, dealt with the fundamental question: how to stay longer on the market? The Queen of pop, Madonna would serve as an example for success as her biography is a textbook example for marketing and PR strategies.

In short the reccomendations were as follows;

  1. Move with the flow and endorse new technologies; Madonna boldly promoted MTV’s use of music videos already in 1983.
  2. Break some rules; Madonna has questioned sexual and religious tabus her entire career.
  3. Blend with the up-and coming, Madonna has collaborated with young artists and got good coverage as she kissed Britney Spears in the MTV Video Awards in 2003.

As for the exhibition, we had our own stand somewhere in the middle, presenting Imooty’s Media Monitoring solutions. As expected, the financial crisis dominated the general mood at the conference, and proved to be an excellent occasion to present Imooty as a concrete way for companies to save money on online reputation management services in trying times.
And the Gummy Bears at our stand, courtesy of Profund, FU, was a huge hit among fellow exhibitors as well as investors.

Imooty held a Xmas party in the Anyway Gallery yesterday. We were pleased to announce a beta version of our improved news widget service, which will launch along with other premium services next year. Present was the Imooty team, our partners, friends and fans. Some of Friedrichshain’s strange neighbors, where the Anyway Gallery is located, also dropped by…

Currently on display were works by the French born, Berlin based, street artist SP38. The exhibit is called ‘Volks Luxus’ which means something along the lines of ‘The People’s Luxury’. The theme was a perfect backdrop for the party as we’ll offer democratized access to media monitoring services, a.k.a. corporate luxury.

With this in mind, Kristoffer introduced some odd Norwegian specialties (brunost, fenalår & aquavit), Blaise brought his specialty, a selection of French cheeses followed by ‘choux à la crème’, all accompanied by Anyway’s excellent house wine.

Check anywayberlin.com for more Volks Luxus pics. And not to forget, if you’d like a sophisticated news widget for your website, Imooty will have one for you soon!

news-widget-user-in-barcelonaPresenting Imooty at the European Mediatech and European Venture Summit was a challenging experience. Investors are understandably weary these days and would like to see cash flow before even thinking about making a commitment. One could definitely sense a market saturation for ‘nice to have’ social media / network applications.

Feedback confirmed that Imooty does not fall in this category because we have a concrete media intelligence tool with ‘have to have’ benefits for European SME’s. As a cost saving alternative to existing business intelligence applications and media monitoring services, Imooty has the qualities of a disruptive business model.

Imooty has been invited to attend the EASY Investment Forum in London taking place 26-27 of June. The EASY Investment Forum provides a dynamic framework for cross-border investing, enabling seed investors and investment ready internationally focused businesses to come together.

The event is an excellent opportunity for us to get some pitching experience and to meet and interact with potential investors.

We have been notified that we will receive the Exist start-up grant. The ca. €100.000 grant will fund a team of 3; Serena, Blaise and Kristoffer and will also cover other operating expenses.

As an Exist funded project we also get a Profund office space at the FU Lankwitz Campus.

In partnership with Peugeot Avenue on Unter den Linden (automotive branding space) we have arranged to live-feed a press conference event and invite Imooty users and community to participate in a Q&A session.

The occasion is that Imooty is being presented as a project supported by “Projekt Zukunft” (Project Future), a creative industries network working under the auspices of the Business and Technology department of the Berlin Senate.

Meanwhile, we’re working hard at keeping up with the amounts of information to be processed. There are some technological glitches to sort out.

Work on the application for an Exist grant is also moving forward, deadline one month from now. This is a golden opportunity to get seed money without exchange of equity. We are confident that our most recent achievements, the invitation from EACD and our Project of the month status, will persuade the jury.

News Flash; We are now being coached through the TCC! Our coach has helped us structure our business concepts and recently introduced us to the Profund incubator department at the Freie Universität Berlin (FU). They will help us further develop our personalized news service.

Profund works with the objective of creating new business opportunities in Berlin. It provides an excellent environment for cooperation between the academic network and new ventures. Professors are on hand as experts and mentors and founders exchange information about their experiences.

Through Profund, Imooty will soon submit an application for the a ’start up’ grant called the Exist Gründerstipendium. The ca. €100.000 grant includes funding for a team of 3 full time positions, office equipment and external consulting services.

The director of Profund, Mr. Patrik Varadinek has introduced Imooty to Dr. Raupp from the Journalism and Communication Studies Department. Dr. Raupp has agreed to mentor the project through the grant period (12 months). Needless to say, an association with Profund, FU and Dr. Raupp will greatly increase the credibility of our project.

As for the third person to be included in the grant application, we have found Ms. Serena Botti. She shares our enthusiasm for a European media landscape and will help us with PR and communication. Ms. Botti has a Master of International Relations from the University of Bologna with focus on political sciences with a specialization on EU institutions.
